This Irish jig appears in Ryan’s and Kerr’s collections published in the 1880s. The title may refer to the type of coat with tails worn by dancing masters in the early 1800s. Indeed, in O’Neill’s collection the same tune appears under the title “The Dancing Master.” Our version, featuring Jim Melnick on the fiddle, is always a crowd-pleaser.
